WEEKLY MID-MAJOR ACCOLADES
week ending December 17, 2006
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: For the first time this season there are co-players of the week, with Davidson’s Jason Richards and New Orleans’ Bo McCalebb sharing the honors.
Richards grabbed a share of the weekly honors, after averaging a double-double last week, with 11 points and 14 assists per game in two wins. He also averaged 7.5 rebounds in the two contests, but the big number came in a win over Mount Saint Mary when Richards set a new school record and tied the Southern Conference league mark for assists in a game with 19. The junior guard broke the school record of 17, which was first established 35 years ago. He followed up that performance with 19 points, nine assists and a new career-high eight rebounds in a win at Chattanooga.
