Davidson faces UNC-Charlotte tonight at 7

Battle for Hornet's Nest Trophy

Who's Hot
• STEPHEN CURRY: Davidson's freshman guard is averaging 19.4 points a game.
• DE'ANGELO ALEXANDER: The 49ers' senior forward has battled his way out of a shooting slump, scoring 23 points in each of Charlotte's past two games.

Who's Not
• LEEMIRE GOLDWIRE: Charlotte's junior guard has been hampered by injuries (ankle and knee) and has struggled with his shot.
• CHARLOTTE'S SHOOTING: The 49ers are making just 39.3 percent of their shots, compared to 45 percent for opponents.

Matchups
•BOBBY LUTZ VS. BOB MCKILLOP: Lutz is 7-1 all-time against McKillop and the Wildcats. This year's 49ers are having difficulty on defense-- an area McKillop is sure to exploit.
•THOMAS SANDER VS. ANTWON COLEMAN/COURTNEY WILLIAMS: Sander is a strong inside scorer and rebounder for Davidson, an area where Charlotte has struggled. The 49ers play the center position "by committee," though Williams has started the past two games instead of Coleman.

Observations
• The 49ers have played well against tough competition, but they are still winless on the road. Although Davidson is nearby, Belk Arena is not an easy place to win, and a victory should jump-start their season.
• There is no trophy at stake, but the schools' women's team meet in their own rivalry at 5 p.m. Charlotte (4-4) is fresh off an 81-61 win against Charleston Southern. Davidson (7-2) has won four straight.
