Led By Six Players in Double Figures,Wildcats Down Charlotte 79-51

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Freshman Stephen Curry led six Davidson players in double figures with 17 points as the Wildcats cruised to a 79-51 victory over cross-county rival Charlotte in the annual battle for the Hornets’ Nest Trophy in front of the second largest crowd in Belk Arena history Saturday evening. Davidson improved to 7-3 overall in pleasing the 5,563 fans, while the 49ers fell to 3-5 on the campaign.

Despite playing just six minutes in the second half due to foul trouble, Curry finished in double digits for the ninth time in his brief Wildcat career.

Charlotte Drops Road Contest at Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP) - Stephen Curry scored 17 points and Boris Meno had 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead Davidson to a 79-51 victory over cross-town rival Charlotte in the annual Hornets' Nest game on Saturday night.

De'Angelo Alexander led Charlotte (3-5) with 16 points while E.J. Drayton chipped in with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Charlotte had won the last three meetings in the annual game for bragging rights in Mecklenburg County, including a 85-81 double-overtime thriller last year.

But Davidson (7-3) jumped out to an early 21-9 lead behind eight points from Max Paulhus Gosselin and never trailed.

Davidson, NC (Sports Network) - Stephen Curry netted a game-high 17 points as the Davidson Wildcats defended their home floor, 79-51, against the visiting Charlotte 49ers in non-conference action.

Curry was one of six Wildcats (7-3) in double figures. Boris Meno notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Max Paulhus Gosselin tallied 12 points. Thomas Sander, Jason Richards and Bryant Barr each had 11 points for Davidson......
