Davidson alum, David Rozelle, profiled on NBC's Ironman Hawaii program today
If you are not familiar with David's situation, read this article (Losing a limb doesn't mean losing your job) from a couple of years ago from USA Today.com. David was a year or two behind me at Davidson and I did not know him well. As I recall, he played football for a year or two, played rugby, and was also a member of ROTC at Davidson. He apparently went into the armed services at some point after graduation. I believe he now holds the rank of Major. Click here for an additional profile.
After losing his foot a couple of years ago in Iraq in the line of duty, he completed the Hawaii Ironman this past October. For those of you that don't know what the Ironman is, it is a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride, and a 26.2 mile run....which must be completed in under 17 hours. That is hard enough to do with two feet. Try doing it with one.
