Thoughts on the Cheerleading Program

During my time at Davidson, the cheerleading program was almost non-existent. In fact, if memory serves correctly, there was no cheerleading squad when I started my freshman year. It developed very slowly during my 4 years. While I was a student, there was almost an "anti-cheerleader" mentality amongst the students. In the time since I graduated in 1994, it appears that the cheerleading program has become very respectable. It is clear that a great deal of hard work goes into practice for the stunts and other routines. I want to commend the cheerleaders and those leading the cheerleading squad. You have all done a great job. I am very impressed with the progress the program has made.
