Davidson returns all five starters this season. Under the guidance of head coach Bob McKillop, the team won a school-record breaking twenty-nine games last season, finally losing to Maryland in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. In October, Davidson was one of four teams (including Georgetown, Memphis, and Southern Illinois) whose first practice was televised by ESPNU.

Keep your eye on:
Jason Richards: Last season this senior point guard placed second nationally with 249 assists and 7.3 assists per game. This season, he’s a finalist for the Cousy Award, which goes to the nation’s top point guard.

Boris Meno: This six-foot-nine senior forward from Paris, France blocked a team-high 34 shots last season.

Stephen Curry: Finishing his first season with a scoring average of 21.5 points per game, Curry ranked ninth nationally in scoring and broke the NCAA single-season freshman record for three-pointers.

Brendan McKillop: Coach Bob McKillop’s third son to attend Davidson, the freshman helped his father pass out doughnuts to fans who spent the night camping out for tickets to the UNC and Duke games. He looks to compete for playing time.

Big games:
UNC: Davidson will host the Tar Heels, ranked first in the men’s preseason coaches’ poll, at Charlotte Bobcats Arena on November 14 (ESPN).

Duke: On December 1, the Wildcats return to Bobcats Arena to take on Coach Mike Krzyzewski’s Blue Devils.

NC State: The ’Cats will travel to Raleigh on December 21 for another battle of North Carolina rivals.

UNC Greensboro: Kyle Hines, the Southern Conference’s 2006/07 Player of the Year, and the rest of the Spartans will be gunning for the SoCon championship when they play Davidson on February 13 and 19.
