SoCon a two-bid conference?

Article from the Charleston Post & Courier:

Two-bid SoCon 'not crazy talk'
BY JEFF HARTSELL

The Southern Conference famously has never placed two basketball teams into the NCAA Tournament. But with less than a month to go in the regular season, the SoCon still has a shot at shedding the "one-bid league" tag, at least for one year.

"Two-bid SoCon? It's not crazy talk at this point," ventures ESPN.com's Andy Glockner in his latest "Drive to 65" analysis of potential NCAA teams.

The SoCon's two candidates for at-large status are Appalachian State (17-5, 9-2) and Davidson (19-4, 10-1), which stand No. 45 and No. 65 in the latest RPI rankings, according to realtimerpi.com

While it might not be crazy talk, it's still a long shot. What would have to happen? Something wild, like Davidson and App State going undefeated the rest of the regular season and meeting in the finals of the SoCon Tournament at the North Charleston Coliseum in March. That would pit a 28-4 Davidson squad against a 27-5 App State team.

With App losing today to Furman, the potential for 2 bids is pretty much gone now.
