Observations from The Observer

Observations Brett Honeycutt

• A handful of students wore white, mop-top wigs to resemble College of Charleston coach Bobby Cremins.

• Construction of the Cougars' new arena, across the street from John Kresse Arena, is two years from completion. It will be welcomed for two reasons: First, because only 750 of the 11,000 students get tickets to each game in Kresse Arena, which seats 3,052; and second, because each home game has been a sellout since Cremins accepted the job in July.

• A timely column by the (Charleston) Post and Courier's Gene Sapakoff criticized the students for a lack of creativity, interest and noise. As the 750 students were given their tickets, a copy of the column also was given to each one. It worked. A reporter with the paper and a sports information official said the students were "raucous" in the first half.
